Oberving a macro cell: an egg! (5th Grade)

Hello boys and girls!

As you know, 5th Grade pupils are learning about the cells.

Most of the cells are so tiny that are invisible to the human eye; we need a microscope to see them.

But, if we look at an unfertilized egg, we can see a cell! In fact, the YOLK (yellow part) is a single cell.

We could identify:

  • the cytoplasm (yellow)
  • the membrane (by smashing soflty the yolk)
  • the nucleus (a white spot in the cytoplasm)

We make cell models (5th Grade)

Good morning!

In 5th Grade we are learning about the CELLS.

First, we answered what, where and how cells are.

Then, we observed different cells through a microscope.

After, we classified them into ANIMAL CELLS and PLANT CELLS. We read about their main parts and we decided to build a big model of them.

Pupils worked in groups.

Cells (5th grade)

Hello boys and girls!

In 5th grade, we are learning about the cells.

We made cells using play doh, labelling all their parts.

Some the children decided to make a plant cell, some others an animal cell.

It was great fun!

The organisation of living things (5th grade)

Hello 5th Grade!

Watch this video, paying lots of attention, so that we can talk about it in class:

How many cells have you got in your body? (5th grade)

Hello 5th grade!

How many cells have you got in your body?

With this question, we started the class today.

We found out that....

A tiny fruit fly has got...
A million cells!

A human being has got...
50-100 trillion cells!!!

And a large elephant has got...
A quadrillion cells!!!

But, bacteria have only got...
...1 cell!

Can you think of other living things?
