Refraction of light (4th Grade)

Experiments to understand refraction, by 4th Grade:

1. Put a pencil into a transparent glass full of water. Observe how it seems to be bent:

2. First, draw an arrow on a paper and stick in on the wall. Then, fill a glass with some water and put it right in front of the paper. Observe how the arrow changes direction!!!

So, what does REFRACTION consist of?

Light bends and changes direction when it passes from one transparent medium to another (water, glass,...).

Magnetism (6th Grade)

Hello everyone!

In 6th grade, we are experimenting with magnets. We had some entertaining lessons, in which we could explore the interesting world of magnetism.

We saw, drew and used magnets of different shapes:

We recognised the two different magnetic poles every magnet has, North and South, and we realised that if we put two magnets together, they can ATTRACT or REPEL. Opposite poles attract; the same poles repel.

ATTRACT:

REPEL:

We could also see the magnetic field lines after spreading out some iron fillings onto a paper, which was laid on a bar magnet.

Also, we learnt what temporary magnets are:

Invertebrates (3rd Grade)

Hello 3rd Grade!

What busy weeks we've had lately... ;)

We like to learn about the invertebrates because it is easy to observe them in class.

When we were working the MOLLUSCS, some pupils brought snails and slugs:

Also, we captured some INSECTS in order to see their three body parts: HEAD, THORAX and ABODOMEN, and to count their 6 legs:

One pupil brought a woodlouse, which is a CRUSTACEAN:
