We plant peas (3rd grade)

Hello everyone!

This morning we have planted PEAS in our vegetable garden.
What we eat from the pea plant are the small round green SEEDS.
We have learnt that it is important to water the peas a lot after planting them, they need a big amount of water to grow.
Here are some pictures:

Food groups and food pyramid (4th grade)

Good afternoon!

In 4th grade, we are studying the Food Groups and the Nutrients. We have built a giant Food Pyramid in order to understand how much of each food group we have to eat a day.

Remember that in the "4th Grade" section you have some games about food to practise at home.

Have a nice weekend, see you!

Bones experiment (6th grade)

Hello!

In 6th Grade, we are studying the Musculoskeletal Sytem. Last week we did an experiment with bones, to learn how they can be and some of their characteristics.
Some children brought bones in class. They had to be already cooked and properly cleaned. First, we classified them into:
LONG - SHORT - FLAT

Then, the teacher broke some bones in order to relise that they are hard and to see what there is inside.

Days later, after some investigation, we discovered that they have the BONE MARROW inside:

The second part of the experiment consisted of putting bones into a jar and covering them all with vinegar

We left there for a week and.... what happened????

Bones became flexible!!! Why?

Our Senses: experiments (3rd Grade)

Hello and welcome everyone!

Science is a new subject for boys and girls of 3rd Grade, but don't worry, everything is great!

Our first unit is Our Senses, which is very motivationg because it allows us to experiment a lot!

We exercised our senses and, for example, talking about the sense of SIGHT, we found out that some images can trick our eyes and brain. They are called "Optical Illusions", like these below:

Are they really moving???

Also, we experimented with SMELL and TASTE.

With our eyes closed, we tried to guess things we were smelling:

Some of the children proved to have a great sense of smell!

Then, we tasted some food in order to learn the four basic tastes:

SWEET - SALTY - SOUR - BITTER

Oops!!! Lemon is sour!
