Electricity (6th Grade)

Good morning!

Children of 6th grade are experimenting with electricity.

First, we learnt that all objects have electrical charges. There are positive electrical charges and negative electrical charges.  Normally, objects have the same number of positive and negative electrical charges: they are electrically neutral.

But, we found out that negative charges can pass from one object to another. For example, by rubbing a balloon to a cloth or to our hair.

Now the balloon is negatively charged:

 The same charges repel:

This was STATIC ELECTRICITY.

Later, we built an ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT, which carries electrical current. We used:

1. A battery
2. Wires
3. A light bulb
4. A switch
